Lynette Beard
RNBN, IBCLC
Lynette has always been a caregiver at heart. As a child, she was the little girl who made friends fast and sought out the new kids to make sure they felt welcomed. Over the years, her gift of compassion led her to become a Registered Nurse and eventually an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Entering the caring professions of nursing and lactation support has allowed Lynette to share her superpower with mothers, guiding them through the early stages of motherhood
In 2017, Lynette’s third child was born and catapulted her into the world of tongue ties. She experienced the pain, confusion, depression, and successes of the tongue tie journey. It was through her experience that she realized the incredible need for more professionals who specialized in Tongue Ties. It became her mission to be an expert in Tongue Ties and to be the guide for others that she never had for herself.
Just 4 months after her son was born, Lynette attended the TOTS: Tethered Oral Tissues Specialty Training and began to specialize in Tethered Oral Tissues (Tongue Tie) in babies. Her mission to make waves in the medical community was born!
Over the past 4 years, Lynette has founded the Winnipeg Tongue Tie Committee which hosted 2 conferences, gathered mothers together in Facebook groups to support each other, created a network of tongue tie informed professionals she provides referrals to, and helped hundreds of families through their breastfeeding and tongue tie struggles.
Together with Aislinn, they have created a community initiative, the Perinatal Professionals Community, where they meet bi-weekly for coffee dates to get to know each other at a human to human level. A place to make connections, they are making waves in Winnipeg!
